Renovation Misconceptions Revealed

When choosing to start a renovation or remodel, a lot of variables have to be considered. Often, people hear stories and experiences from family and friends that make them extremely nervous or too lighthearted about their impending project. At Central Construction Group, we are committed first to you, our clients. Ahead of your renovation, we want to make sure you understand the process, the prices, and the commitment involved.

How long does a home renovation take?

A common misconception in construction, specifically remodeling is that things never stay on schedule. This is one reason why we have a project manager for each and every remodel and renovation. Your project manager will answer any and all questions you have and do their best to make sure your project stays on schedule.

However, at CCG we always want our clients to understand that remodeling and renovating can be a lengthy process. Since we provide extremely detailed plans and estimates, the planning process alone can take several months. Once work begins, all design choices have been made, so things tend to move faster.

How much does a renovation cost?

Another misconception is that all projects go over budget. The first step in our process is an in-depth consultation about your project. During this consult, we will discuss your dream space. Then, we will take our conversation and turn it into a projected investment range with a high end, mid- range and low end options. If you are comfortable with the projected investment ranges and would like to develop this into a full estimate we then produce an extremely detailed estimate. This helps ensure your project is within your budget.

Before we start any renovation or remodeling work, you will make all of your design selections. This will again, help you stay within your budget. This stage includes choosing finishes such as flooring, cabinetry, countertops, tile backsplash, and smaller accessories like handles and pulls.

What if I change my mind?

A third misconception is that remodeling and renovation dilemmas are solely attributed to the design or construction firm. In reality, what typically slows down the process is when the homeowner changes their mind. Making last minute changes or adding to the original scope of work requires change orders, often a change in costs, and takes time out of the original plan. Our process at CCG tries to alleviate the need for homeowner’s to change their mind, but this is typically what negatively influences the timeframe and budget. However, you are allowed to change your mind. Our main priority is your home and your project. We want you to be more than satisfied with the end result.

We would love to help you plan your next project and stay on time and on budget. Click here to contact us today
