Inspiring Home Office Setups for Maximum Efficiency

Wondering how to perk up your office space and increase productivity? Try out a few of these tips and tricks to see what works for you. A few simple tricks may help you brighten up your space and get organized. Or are you looking to make your dream office come to life? There’s something in here for everyone.

Dedicated Space

Whether you have a specified room or a corner somewhere in your house, make sure this space is dedicated just for work. The kitchen table isn’t going to be where you’re most productive – if anything, it’s probably where you’ll be most distracted by what’s going on in your home. Being able to walk in, sit down, and switch into “work mode” is crucial for inspiring your creativity and making you more productive. Need help remodeling an area of your home into an office? CCG is here to help

Lighting

Set up near a window (or two) so you have some access to some sunshine. Having more natural light in your office has been linked to making fewer mistakes at work, increased alertness, increased mood, better sleep at night, and reduced eye strain. If that doesn’t make you want all the natural light you can get, maybe the cost savings on your energy bill will. Either way, making sure your working space is well-lit, preferably with the sun, will optimize your at-home working experience.

Minimal

Minimize the clutter and keep a neutral color palette. This leaves room for only the things you truly need and truly want. That pop of color in your favorite print on the wall will make you happy, and only having your computer and notebook on your desk will keep you organized and on task. That also means zero room for distractions or lessened motivation by having random things in your office you don’t need. Less is more!

Standing Desk

You probably know you need a comfy chair, but you might think about getting a standing desk as well. Sitting for prolonged periods isn’t great for your health so a standing desk helps combat that. It also helps you beat the feeling of being in one place for a long time. Giving you options of standing or sitting allows you to find the best position for you to feel most productive, comfortable, and creative.

Environment

Make your office feel cozy enough that you want to be in it, but structured enough that you will get stuff done. Organizers for your papers, books, and technology cords are super important to keep your workspace clean. On the other end of the spectrum, having things like plants in your office will make it feel much more pleasant. Plants like snake plants, pothos, or philodendrons are plants that don’t need very much attention, are easy to keep alive, and will help purify the air in your office. A study even found that having plants in your workspace can increase productivity up to 15%.
Most importantly, make sure you love your home office. After all, you will (are) spend a decent amount of time in there. Check out our Houz page or Facebook page for more home office inspiration. And if a home office remodel is something you’re looking into, we’d love to talk.
