Indy Home Remodeler Creates Functional Mudroom, Home Office

Whether it’s the dog’s muddy pawprints or the grass and leaves your kids track inside, no one enjoys cleaning up the messes they leave behind. Mudrooms help contain the disorder, making cleanup easier and faster, and can even open up an area to add extra office space to your home.

Mudrooms and office spaces add value to a home, organize clutter, and create room for extra storage. Plus, mudrooms protect a home’s other assets, like new carpeting and tile, from outside elements often tracked indoors, and improved office spaces make working remotely from home a breeze.

Central Construction Group (CCG), a premier Indianapolis home remodeler, offers many mudroom and office-space design solutions.

Mudroom Remodeling: Out with the Old, In with the New

One of CCG’s recent home improvement projects involved converting a screened-in porch to a functional office space/mudroom. Demo involved removing the existing porch, along with the roof, gutters, columns, screens and siding, as well as concrete and brick.

Crews poured a new concrete footer and slab foundation, framed new walls, constructed a new roof, and installed wood shake siding to match the home’s existing exterior.

A baseboard heater in the mudroom, along with a heater/air-conditioning combo unit in the office ceiling, allow for full temperature control.

Other renovations included new insulation, Pella windows, interior and exterior electrical plug-ins and switches, as well as drywall and interior trim. Outside updates included a new exterior mudroom door and step. Inside, new glass French doors added a sophisticated touch.

Office-Space Remodeling: Custom Built-Ins Maximize Storage Potential

Stephanie Larmor, CCG’s in-house designer, created the concept for this mudroom/office-space remodel. Custom cabinetry, a desk with a stained wooden top, a space-saving Murphy bed and unique lockers maximize storage space while serving as functional furniture.

Color and Texture Create Design Appeal

Neutral Sherwin Williams paint colors include Modern Gray for interior walls and Pure White for the custom lockers. A gray and white floor tile mosaic from RocaTile USA adds texture and visual appeal. The penny-round porcelain tiles feature a matte finish. Primrose carpet from Resista Plus H20, in a Hazel Glen color, contains a loop and cut pile pattern.
