A stunning front porch adds instant curb appeal, while an inviting back patio and screened porch enhance outdoor living all year long.
One Indianapolis homeowner tackled both projects simultaneously in 2022, hiring Central Construction Group to provide full-service contracting services.
Out with the Old. In with the New.
The project began with the demolition and removal of the exterior screened porch, stairs leading to a lower-level patio, and a stone retaining wall. We also demoed the existing front porch and roof overhang, as well as the concrete pad.
To give the rest of the home an exterior refresh, we removed the trim and siding to prepare for the installation of HardiePanel smooth siding and wood grain battens.
Front Porch Refresh
The front porch construction included building a HardiePanel-finished ceiling with wood battens and a new roof with Kynar standing seam metal roofing, installing a 2×12 rafter system, as well as adding new columns, LED recessed can lights, and a video doorbell.
To update the rest of the home’s exterior, we installed architectural-style asphalt shingles on the remaining roof areas and HardiePanel vertical siding and wood-grain battens over all existing siding. The homeowner also chose stamped concrete for the new sidewalk we constructed to connect the porch to the driveway.
Based on the homeowner’s specifications, we painted the HardiePanel siding and battens in Benjamin Moore’s “Kendall Charcoal” and used “Shoji White” for the trim, soffits, and fascia. The homeowner chose Sherwin-Williams “Weathered Teak” to give the beams a rustic look.
New Screened Porch and Decking
To make the new screened porch comfortable year-round, we added a ceiling fan and wired and installed two Infratech patio heaters. The homeowner also requested 6″ LED recessed can lights.
For the lower patio update, we installed TimberTech “Dark Hickory” tongue and groove composite decking boards around the existing hot tub area.
