Solutions for Small Bathrooms

We aren’t all blessed with our dream master bathrooms so we came up with some solutions to make your small bathroom seem bigger than it really is.

1. Use Light Colors

When you paint a small bathroom a lighter color it can help smaller space seem larger. When it doubt, swatch it out.

2. The Single Sink

We know two sinks is ideal but think about the counter space that it can eat up especially if you really don’t have the room for a large vanity. If you stick to a single sink vanity, you open up counter space and leave more room for the toilet or shower.

3. Medicine Cabinets

When you don’t have space to create built-in storage, putting a medicine cabinet above the toilet can give you the storage you need without being overwhelming. Placing a medicine cabinet above the sink can be bulky and cut off your personal space. It also stops you from getting a big beautiful mirror (which helps make the space seem bigger).

4. Use Open Shelving

Instead of towel racks and towel rods, use open shelving on a wall and by placing your things on the open shelves you open up storage space for the things you want to hide away. This also helps you stay clean and organized since everyone will see it.

5. Install a Deep Tub

If you are completely redoing your space, instead of a giant tub opt for a more narrow one that is deeper. That way you are saving your square footage but still gaining a lot of space for a nice bath.

6. Tile

When you tile your bathroom, take it all the way up to the ceiling. That way you aren’t breaking up the bathroom with a horizontal division. Also, a good tip, go with lighter colors for tile, anything too dark with brings the space right back down in size.

7. Open Shower

If you aren’t a bath person, go for an open shower with a glass partition. This will show the whole square footage of the space making it seem bigger and you have a beautiful open shower (don’t forget to tile all the way up).

Keep it light, keep it simple, and you can finally be happy with your small bathroom.
